June 18, 2011
A large turnout gathered to run, bike ride and/or walk during Great Bend Regional Hospital’s inaugural Human (e)Motion event on June 18. All totaled, 120 athletes and 45 volunteers participated in the event, which raised funds for the Great Bend Family Crisis Center from race proceeds.
“It was just a great day seeing athletes compete hard, promoting healthy lifestyles, and just being out and enjoying a gorgeous day,” said Pam Chamber, Administrator of Great Bend Regional Hospital. “It was also wonderful to know that everyone’s efforts were going to raise money for the Family Crisis Center.”
The inaugural event offered a 2-mile walk, 25-mile bike ride, a 62-mile bike ride, a 5-kilometer run, and a half marathon.

Local professional athletes Jackie Stiles and Cameron Chambers returned home to participate in the event . Both running the half marathon. They spoke to the group after competing and gave credit for their success to their Kansas roots providing them a solid foundation and the support they experienced from this community.
