The University of Kansas Health System in Great Bend is pleased to have Katie
Patterson, CCC-SLP, certified speech and language therapist, join our therapy care team. She will offer speech, language and swallowing therapy for children and adults, expanding the services our therapy team offers.
The addition of a speech and language pathologist to our therapy team means people in the community will be able to receive more specialized therapy services close to home. Patterson provides speech, language and swallowing services that include pediatric therapy for language delays or disorders, autism spectrum disorders and speech-sound disorders among other services.
She also provides services for adults with swallowing difficulties, cognitive-communication disorders related to dementia, stroke, traumatic brain injury and other conditions, and motor-speech disorders. Once a person has had an evaluation, Patterson will develop a personalized therapy program for them.
“I enjoy working closely with patients and their families to improve all aspects of communication and swallowing for patients of all ages,” Patterson says. “I look forward to adding speech therapy services to our existing high-quality therapy care.”
Patterson earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication sciences and disorders from Fort Hays State University. She also has a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology.
Patterson and her husband moved back to the Great Bend area to raise their 2 daughters on their family farm. She looks forward to offering speech, language and swallowing therapy to Great Bend and surrounding communities.
Speech and language pathology services are available at 1514 NW K-96 Highway in Great Bend. To schedule an appointment for therapy or evaluation, call 620-603-4659.
